A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), JohnBosco Onunkwo, has expressed hope that the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA’s) reign will end with the Anambra State governorship election next year.

Onunkwo, who contested the gubernatorial position in 2017 under the APC, canvassed power shift to Anambra South Senatorial District come 2021.

He commended President Muhammadu Buhari for his efforts at addressing the economy, insecurity and corruption in the country.

He said, “APC in Anambra is doing everything possible to displace APGA because Governor Willie Obiano has done what his administration knows best and is now running at the highest capacity.

“APC is coming in to give digital leadership. APGA has tried, but there are areas in which they didn’t do well. There are areas that need improvement.

“If you are familiar with Anambra, if you have travelled to the state five, six years ago or even three years ago, and if you go there now, you will notice that there is no much difference. In terms of infrastructure development, the state seems stagnant and that is one major area that the APC will focus on.”

He explained that one had to drink tea before looking for Ovaltine and that the basic amenities were still lacking in Anambra, stressing that an APC government would focus on roads, housing for all, adequate healthcare and much more.

“In terms of security, in terms of economy and corruption, we need to know where we started. When President Buhari came to power, I was in Abuja with one eye open and one eye closed.

“The kind of bombs they used to throw in Abuja, the kind of insecurity in Abuja then was like a war situation. So, we know the level we are now and I can tell you that the President is trying his best,” he added.

He also expressed support for the Governor Mai Mala Buni-led Caretaker and Extra-Ordinary National Convention Planning Committee (CEONCPC), saying it possessed the capacity to reconcile and redirect the party.
