The ruling All Progressives Congress on Tuesday cautioned the National Chairman of the opposition People’s Democratic Party, Uche Secondus, against his conduct and utterances capable of bringing his person into disrepute.

“We advise Prince Secondus not to descend to the level unexpected of his office, less he enters the boxing ring with its attendant mud and dirt,” APC said in a statement signed by its acting National Publicity Secretary, Yekini Nabena.

Nabena noted that the Secondus “has not lived up to these basic expectations” by accusing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) “of conspiring with the All Progressives Congress (APC) to declare the election inconclusive’ with any basis.

“Accusing the APC of conspiring with INEC, without proof, is taking mudslinging too far,” Nabena said.

While reacting to the Osun’s inconclusive election result, Secondus, on Sunday, said the perceived by INEC indicated that the President had destroyed agents of democracy.

“What other evidence do the democratic watchers and security agencies need to establish obvious bias from INEC when the commission’s administrative officer caught destroying result sheets in Ayedade local Government area where over a thousand votes belonging to PDP were removed confirmed acting on the instruction of his superior officer?,

“What will President Buhari be telling democratic world at the UN when back home he has brutalized all agents of democracy and has been unable to conduct a simple state bye-election?”

The APC said it would, as a rule, ignore irresponsible and baseless utterances and actions as exhibited by the PDP National Chairman, but as we prepare for the forthcoming 2019 General elections, it was necessary to give a word of caution on expected behavior required of all political sides.

The party further advised the PDP chairman “to temper his political language and conduct.”

“His unfounded allegation on the inconclusive Osun State governorship election is not expected from such highly-placed party official.

“We advise Prince Secondus not to descend to the level unexpected of his office, less he enters the boxing ring with its attendant mud and dirt. His action will only bring him personal attacks, ridicule. A word is enough for the wise.”
