APC voids Sylva’s suspension
To avoid frosty relationship among its supporters, the top echelon of the All Progressives Congress (APC) yesterday waded into the crisis rocking the Bayelsa chapter and voided the suspension of former governor, Timipre Sylva, and other chieftains of the party.
APC’s National Vice Chairman (South-south), Hillard Eta, in a statement, directed the executives of the Bayelsa chapter to revert to the status quo pending the outcome of an investigation into the causes of the rift among members of the party in the state.
Eta, who said a committee had been constituted to reconcile the warring factions, maintained that the suspension of Sylva, and other chieftains of the party in the state could not stand because it ran contrary to the provision of the APC constitution.
“As the chairman of the party in the zone, I am particularly miffed by the state of affairs in Bayelsa APC and publicly exhort the aggrieved parties to sheath their swords.
