In a statement, Eta said: “’I am not aware of anyone defecting to our party. In fact, to the best of my knowledge, nobody is crossing over from any other party to our party in Cross River state and because I do not know, the report that anyone is defecting to APC in Cross River state is not true.’’
The statement urged members of the party and the general public to discountenance the said media report as a figment of the writers’ imagination.

Some media outfits had recently reported that Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, the National Chairman of the APC,Chief John Odigie-Oyegun among others in the top echelon of the APC are expected to receive thousands of decampee PDP stalwarts in Cross River state into the APC at a rally proposed for September 26, at the U.J Esuene stadium,Calabar.

It was also reported that immediate past Senate Leader Victor Ndoma-Egba[SAN]; former Health and Works Minister, Dr.Emmanuel Nsan; erstwhile Governor Clement Ebri; former PDP governorship aspirant, Prince Goddy Jeddy-Agba; a former senatorial aspirant of the PDP, Chief Sam Bassey; former LP governorship candidate in the April 11 poll, Ntufam Fidelis Ugbo and his running mate, Mrs Nella Andem-Ewa Rabana [SAN] among others would decamp at a planned September 26, 2015 rally of the APC at U.J Esuene Stadium, Calabar.

But Eta said the national leadership of the party was not aware of any such plan adding: ‘’There are laid down procedures to follow by anyone who intends to defect to the APC and because those procedures have not been followed, the APC would not be excited to accept a figment of one’s imagination which may be thought to do the party good.’’
