Anisulowo’s kidnappers yet to contact family

As at 6:30 pm yesterday, kidnappers of former Minister of State for Education, were yet to contact the family.

Anisulowo was on Wednesday seized by four kidnappers while returning from her farm at Sawonjo in Yewa South Local Government area of Ogun State, where she presently resides.

Her abductors were said to have been armed with guns and swords. At the time of her arrest she was in company of her driver, Wasiu Afonja, security aide, Akinwade Damola and another aide.

The younger brother of the victim, Kola Popoola who spoke to journalists on phone at 6.30pm said her abductors were yet to get in touch with the family.
The State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun yesterday led security chiefs to her farm at Sawonjo in Yewa North local government to assess the situation.

Those who were in the governor’s team were Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 2, Bala Hassan, the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Abdulmajeed Ali, Commandant, 35 Artillery Brigade, Alamala, Abeokuta, M. S Danwalis and State Director of the State Security Service (SSS).

Amosun assured the people of the state, especially the family that the state was doing everything possible to ensure her safe return.
He stated: “Even if it is not high profile like this, it is our responsibility as a government to secure our citizens. Ogun State is safe and secured notwithstanding what has happened. And I can assure that everybody is involved in the rescue operation – the army, police, SSS, paramilitary agencies and the local vigilante.‎ Farmers, hunters, everybody have been involved since late night when it happened.

“We’ll get her safely. I know she would be troubled but we know the Lord is in charge. I pray that quickly we get her back, maybe in the next few hours, not even days.”

Amosun described Anisulowo as enterprising and industrious and, saying she does not deserve the ordeal she would be passing through, stressing “agriculture is so close to her heart.”
