Anglican communion to regulate conduct of members in politics
The Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) may soon release a compendium on code of conduct for its members who may want to seek for political positions.
The Church believes that members intending to go into politics must embrace the best practices and be role models to others to promote honesty, integrity and peaceful conduct during their time in office.
This was disclosed to newsmen yesterday by the Bishop of Kwara Diocese of the Church, Dr. Olusegun Adeyemi, during the Third Session of the 14th Synod of the Diocese at All Saints Anglican Church Eyenkorin, Asa in Kwara State.
According to Adeyemi: “Let everybody in politics, especially our members shun the slogan of ‘if you can’t beat them to it join them’. This may henceforth be a code of conduct for all intending politicians in the communion. They should always remember that they will give account of their stewardship to God one day.”
