Anglican bishop advises Fayemi to ignore praise-singers

Bishop of Ekiti Anglican Diocese, Christopher Omotunde, has advised Governor Kayode Fayemi not to be swayed by people’s commendations of his performance in office.

He urged the governor to, instead, further commit himself to the work and continually seek the face of God in actualising the purpose for which God gave him a second chance to lead Ekiti State.

Delivering a sermon during the thanksgiving service at the Government House Chapel for the 56th birthday of the governor’s wife, Bisi, the bishop noted Fayemi’s performance within the few months of inauguration as governor.

According to a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Yinka Oyebode, the cleric described Fayemi’s return to office after a four-year interregnum as call for divine assignment, which he must actualise.

Bishop Omotunde reportedly charged the governor to be prepared for challenges in the course of serving the people. He however urged him to continually seek divine direction to surmount the challenges.

“Don’t depend on people’s praise-singing because they don’t know why God brought you back. Rather, you should sit back and ask God the next step.

“This is not the limit that God has set for you. There will be challenges, but they are mere shadows. God will turn every problem challenging you to shadows,” he asserted.

Speaking at the thanksgiving service, which took place, the governor’s wife thanked God for giving her the opportunity to witness another year.

She pledged commitment to more philanthropic works, saying “the essence of life is to better the lot of the masses.”
