Amosun urges commissioners to uphold financial prudence
At the colourful ceremony held at the June 12 Cultural Centre, Abeokuta, 18 Special Assistants (SAs) and four Consultants to the Governor were also sworn-in.
Amosun retained four of his Commissioners during his first tenure. They are Mr. Muyiwa Oladipo, Mrs. Ronke Sokefun, Lekan Adegbite and Bimbo Ashiru.
The Governor in his speech charged the appointees to see their positions as a call to duty, be thoroughly professional in all their official duties and shun all corrupt practices.
He told the appointees, “I charge you to regard your appointment, out of a pool of equally well qualified people, as entirely a call to service. You must realise that your appointments are an opportunity to prove your mettle as we jointly forge ahead in the ‘’Mission to Rebuild” our dear State”.
He added, “You must always be conscious of the fact that the responsibility for taking our dear State to unprecedented heights of development and prosperity in an environment of peace and harmony now rests squarely on your shoulders”.
“I urge you to see your appointment as an opportunity to contribute your own quota to the development of our dear State. And, as you take up that responsibility today, I enjoin you to be ready to work twice harder than before in order to collectively bring accelerated development to our great State. Ensuring at all times to achieve and display OGUN STANDARD”, Amosun affirmed.
The Governor told his new team players, “You must be reminded that your duties must be carried out in consonance with the best practices. You must be professional in your dealings, most especially in the area of proper Administration and Financial prudence. You must be conscious and careful in your dealings and avoid any financial profligacy and/or impropriety that will put your name into disrepute”.
“Be aware that the change mantra of the President Muhammadu Buhari Led Administration has percolated down and the Eagle eyes of the Anti graft agencies are everywhere”, Amosun affirmed.
Meanwhile, a civil Society group, the Democratic Agenda (DA) has warned the opposition party in Osun state against making spurious allegations against the State governor, Rauf Aregbesola saying as responsible opposition, they must uphold the truth at all times.
In a statement signed by the convener and secretary of Democratic Agenda, Alhaji Lateef Olalekan and Nurudeen Ayinde Abiola respectively, pointed out that the opposition in its usual practice lied on the governor of the state when the Bail out Fund was still being approved and told the world that Aregbesola had not only collected the funds but had gone to put the fund in unnamed fixed deposit account for gains.
