Ambode tasks residents on clean environment

LASIEC seeks collection of PVCs ahead of council poll
Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State yesterday urged the residents to make the city the cleanest in Africa to attract investors and tourists.

Ambode, who made the appeal at the opening of a two-day workshop on ‘Strategic Communication for a Clean Lagos,’ said a clean environment would make Lagos to become Africa’s third largest economy.

The Commissioner for Establishment, Training and Pensions, Dr. Akintola Benson Oke represented him.

He explained that a clean environment is important for the healthy living of residents and tourists and also in maintaining a suitable ranking when cities are graded.

Meanwhile, as the local council poll approaches, the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) has appealed to registered voters to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVC).

The Chairman of the commission, Justice Ayotunde Phillips, made the appeal at the ‘Civic Populace Stakeholders’ forum organised by the commission.

The forum was organised for the media, non-governmental organisations and community-based organisations.
