Three All Progressives Congress (APC) aspirants contesting for the Daura/Mai’adua/Sandamu House of Representatives ticket on the party’s platform have threatened court action over alleged imposition of President Muhammadu Buhari’s nephew, Fatulu Muhammed.

The three aspirants, Aminu Mohammed Jamu, Kabir Sani Abdullahi, and Salisu Ado Daura said they could go to court because they were not satisfied with the process put in place for the primary.

In a joint press conference, the aspirants called on the APC to conduct direct primaries so that every contestant would have equal chance of being elected. They lamented that the entire machinery of the party and state government have taken sides on the matter and that plans had been perfected to subvert the electoral process in favour of an anointed candidate.”

They said the party left them in the dark for hours on venue and modalities of yesterday’s primaries. The aspirants, who called on their supporters to be law abiding and avoid rude behaviour, assured them that they would not rest till justice was done over the issue.

The state government had yesterday issued a statement that both government and party had no anointed candidates in the ongoing party primaries in the state. The statement, signed by the Senior Special Adviser to the Governor on media, Abdu Labaran said party and government had allowed the primaries to take its natural course without interference. It called on delegates to disregard anyone within or outside government, that goes about selling the idea that some candidates were government or party’s anointed.
