As part of his preparations to assume office on February 24, 2017, the governor-elect of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, has inaugurated some transition committees.

The governor-elect said in Akure yesterday that members of the committees were men and women of proven integrity.

Akeredolu urged the 158-man Strategic Development and Policy Implementation Committee to formulate a detailed policy in the various sectors.

He tagged the policy and programme “A Blueprint to Progress in Ondo State (2017-2021).”

Akeredolu disclosed that the vision and mission of his administration was to lead a patriotic, highly inspired and competent team to rescue the ship of the state.

He said: “It is certainly not an understatement to say that these are difficult times for us. While no single large-scale industry exists today in the state, businesses, both small and medium, have collapsed thereby reducing the chances of employment for our able-bodied citizens.

“Government workers are being owed several months of salaries while pensioners and senior citizens are lamenting over the punishment that the situation has created for them.”

Akeredolu explained that the unemployed people had become traumatised and were fast losing confidence in governance because their families were facing hardship.

“The people have voted for us to reverse this regrettable trend and give their lives a new meaning and that is what we shall do,” he said.

He pledged to rebuild the economy, resuscitate the damaged infrastructure and return the state to a free and prosperous land.
