In the spirit of Ramadan, the wife of President Muhammadu Buhari, Hajiya Aishatu Buhari yesterday, donated two trailer loads of food items to the Kaduna State Government for onward distribution to its citizens. Also, members of the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) in the state also donated food items to the Muslim community as part of Ramadan goodwill. According to Buhari, the donation of the food items was part of efforts to touch the lives of the needy in the society, particularly in the bad economy and in the spirit of the season.

The items donated include cartons of pasta, bags of Semovita and Wheat. Represented by the Coordinator, Buhari Support Group, Hajiya Binta Mua’azu, the President’s wife said she feels the pains Nigerians are passing through presently. However, she assured that the pains are temporary as the President meant well for Nigeria and Nigerians.

Although the items donated are meant to be shared among both Christian and Muslim needy in the state, she called on Muslim faithful to use this period to pray for the peace of the nation and the leaders. Receiving the items on behalf of the state government, wife of Kaduna State Governor, Hajiya Hadiza El-Rufai supported by wife of the Deputy governor, Mrs. Ladi Barnabas Bantex, commended Buhari for the gesture, assuring her that the items would be distributed to the needy across the three Senatorial zones in the state.

Meanwhile, the ECWA Gospel church Tudun Nupawa, Kaduna South local government, donated various foodstuffs to host the Muslim community where the church is situated. The effort, according to the senior pastor of the church, Reverend Yunusa Nmadu Jnr, has become an annual event, aimed at fostering religious coexistence, and a way of assisting the needy within the community.

Items donated include rice, beans, maize, noodles, Millet among others. Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, the Sarkin Dutse, Alhaji Shaibu Balarebe who commended the magnanimity of the ECWA church disclosed that he inherited the protection of the church from his late father and would not relent in protecting all within his domain.
