Again, PDP Cross River postpones congress
For the second time, PDP Cross River State congress has been postponed, as the faceoff between Governor Ben Ayade-backed home group and most National Assembly and founding members of the party deepens.
On Friday, three different lists of candidates were in circulation for the state congress, purported to have been produced by the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) in Abuja. One of the lists carries the names of the three Chairmanship candidates, that is, the party’s former National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Venatious Ikem, who is from Obudu and supported by a National Assembly faction; the Director General, Due Process, Chief Alphonsus Eba, otherwise known as Okadigbo, said to be backed by the state governor, and Mr. Frank Adah, an ex-Speaker of the State House of Assembly.
The second list, said to be a fake list from the state government, carried the name of Eba, one of the candidates vying for the chairmanship position, excluding Ikem and Adah. Ikem was alleged to have been disqualified from the race, but he denied, insisting that he was fully in the race.
