The governorship candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), Alhaji Moshood Adeoti, has charged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to rise above board by ensuring that the September 22 governorship poll is free and fair.

He gave the charge when members of a Lagos-based human rights group, Eyes for Democracy (ED), paid him a courtesy visit at his campaign office in Osogbo, the state capital.

A statement by the Director of Media and Publicity of Moshood Adeoti Campaign Organization (MACO), Mr. Kayode Agbaje, stressed the need for the electoral umpire to remain impartial in the discharge of the primary assignment.

Adeoti used the occasion to declare that he nurses no plan to go back to the ruling-All Progressives Congress (APC).

“I have no plan to leave the ADP and go back to the rulin gAPC once elected. The thought is a lie from the pit of hell, especially my political detractors, who are bent on painting me as an inconsistent and self—centered politician.”

Earlier, the ED National Coordinator, Comrade James Nonso Okechukwu, said his group’s mission in the state was to ensure a violence-free governorship election through visits and appeal to the various stakeholders to play the game according to the rules.

The civil rights group’s leader also encouraged the ADP candidate to take his message to INEC leadership both at the state and national levels.
“I assure you that your charge to INEC would not just stop here, we would take it even to the national and state levels of the commision,” Okechukwu said.
