Adeboye, Kumuyi task leaders on humility, support for Buhari
THOSE aspiring to greatness, especially political office holders, should make humility their bedrock if they must succeed in fulfilling the great expectations of Nigerians who voted them into power, the General Overseer of Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has said.
Similarly, General Superintendent of the Deeper Life Bible Church, Pastor William Kumuyi, has urged Nigerians to support the new government led by President Muhammadu Buhari, saying that the nation, judging by his past leadership records, stands a better chance of being transformed from the present decadence.
Addressing the media over the weekend after his crusade in Kaduna, Kano, Katsina and neighbouring states, Kumuyi warned Nigerians against corruption and enjoined all religious leaders to join government in fighting it.
“I want to say that anyone in government is there by the ordination of God, so we should rule with the fear of God. We should look at whatever mistakes the past government made, see how to sincerely correct them and have a better country for the next generation”, he said.
Speaking on the “Mathematics of Success” at the RCCG Headquarters in Lagos during a special prayer programme for present and future leaders, with the theme “Not by Might,” Adeboye stressed that no man could get to any position of authority without God’s approval, hence the fear of God is basic.
He told the congregation, which included Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, among other government functionaries, that “success can be reduced to two linear equations with equation one as ‘Power Belongs to God’ and two, ‘God exalts the humble.’
Stating “God is the controller of power and gives it to whosoever He wills,” Adeboye tasked leaders on humility and trust in God who put them there because humans are limited in so many ways, while God is not.
“The class of people regarded as ‘mighty’ among human beings should always remember that they are mortals limited by death, sleep and incurable diseases hence the need to fear God who fixed them into their respective positions,” he said.
Kumuyi added: “The church cannot solve all the problems in the whole country but obviously, we can solve part of them. We, who are preachers in the church, should help our people to understand that corruption is evil and sin against the society and against humanity. Therefore, our ministers should preach and let our people live a commendable righteous life.
