Urges Leaders To Imbibe Spirit Of Selfless Service

AREWA leaders, in a Christmas message to Nigerians yesterday, urged the country’s leadership to imbibe the teachings of Jesus Christ with a view of providing good governance at all levels to the people.

The Northern leaders under the umbrella of Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) said it “felicitates with all Nigerians especially our Christian faithful in this Yuletide,” adding that “the period also gives Christians the opportunity to reflect on the life and good teachings of Jesus Christ especially his tolerance, love, forgiveness and self-sacrifice.”

A statement signed by the Forum’s National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Muhammad Ibrahim wished Nigerians, especially Christians, happy celebrations and urged all, both high and the lowly, to practice the virtues preached and lived by Jesus.”

Ibrahim said: “ACF also calls on our political leaders to provide credible leadership and good governance that is free of injustice, corruption and other evils/vices that have characterised our socioeconomic and political development.”

He said that the period should also be dedicated to prayers for our gallant soldiers fighting to end the Boko Haram insurgency in the north-eastern part of the country, and government at all levels should seriously engage and educate the people on the real issues of insecurity.

He equally called on Nigerians to fervently pray, support and cooperate with President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration in order to reap the benefits of the sacrifices made to effect change during the 2015 general elections, while also urging the government to fulfill its campaign promises.
