Secretary General of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), Anthony Sani, yesterday dissociated the forum from comment by the Northern Elders Forum (NEF)’s leader, Prof. Ango Abdullahi, against the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Sani said Abdullahi was not in a position to speak on behalf of northern region against Buhari’s re-election in the forthcoming elections.

The ACF secretary stressed that some members of the NEF equally did not share in the Abdullahi’s position.

According to him: “We have nothing to do with the Northern Elders Forum because of its factions. Which faction are we going to talk about?”

It expressed concerns that NEF had passed a vote of no confidence on President Buhari and other northern leaders some months back.

But the ACF said kicking against his re-election and his alleged failed administration should be left for Nigerians to decide.

He said: “We are not a partisan organisation, it is not the consensus of our people to take partisan position. It is God who would use the masses/citizens of the country in making Buhari a president and we are not in position to decide for them.

“We are not part of NEF’s position against the re-election of Buhari, because not quite long ago, ACF dissociated itself from NEF’s communiqué for criticising Buhari and other northern Nigerian leaders.
