The female Customs officer, Comfort Alaba Baikie, who was abducted by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers on Tuesday, has been released.

Baikie, a Chief Superintendent of Customs attached to SDV Bonded Terminal under the Tin Can Customs Command, was with her two daughters when the masked men stormed out of their car and abducted her in front of Tastee Fried Chicken on 22 Road, Festac Town, Lagos.

Her daughter, Faith, said she was released unhurt about 10pm on Thursday night, but could not confirm if any ransom was paid to the abductors.

Public Relations Officer of the Tin Can Island Port Command, Uche Ejesieme, also confirmed Baikie’s release, but noted that circumstances of her release were not known.

“As far as we are concerned, we did not pay any ransom and I can’t confirm if the family did, but she is in good condition,” he said.
