AAU loses former VC, Edo government mourns

Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, has been thrown into mourning, following the death of its immediate past Vice Chancellor, Dr. (Mrs.) Cordelia Agbebaku.

Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, has been thrown into mourning, following the death of its immediate past Vice Chancellor, Dr. (Mrs.) Cordelia Agbebaku. She was said to have died at about 5pm on Thursday, at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH).
 
The Public Relation Officer of the University, Edward Aihevba who confirmed the incident, however, said they were yet to get full details of her death. 
 
“The University is distraught, we are confused and sad. We are yet to get full details of her death. We have no details yet, we have not confirmed anything, but we heard she died of a protracted ailment. 

   
Meanwhile, the state government expressed sadness over the death and commiserated with the school and the family of the deceased.
A condolence letter by the Secretary ‎to State Government (SSG), Osarodion Ogie on behalf of Governor Godwin Obaseki said, “I realise without doubt that her exit will leave you, members of the family and the university community with considerable trauma following the unexpected occurrence”. 
   
He‎ urged her husband Professor Philip Agbebaku and family to take solace in the fact that she contributed a great deal to the development of various segments of society especially the educational sector in the state.
   
‎While praying that Almighty God grants her eternal rest, Obaseki conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the entire family of Agbebaku and wished her gentle soul rest in peace.
