Aare OnaKakanfo urges South West governors to build rail, power

The Aare OnaKakanfo of Yorubaland, Otunba Gani Adams, has implored the six South-West governors to build independent power supply and rail system that will link the entire states in the region.

Adams said this in Epe yesterday during the 2020 edition of Grandmothers’ Festival organised by the Olokun Festival Foundation.

The Aare OnaKakanfo stressed the need for an uninterrupted power supply across the region, saying that the new initiative will enhance commerce and tourism, and drive the desired development across the region

According to him: “All over the world, businesses thrive where security and safety of the citizens are guaranteed. Stable and uninterrupted power supply is key to the development of every nation. In South Africa for example, the transportation system is amazing because of the effective rail stations between Johannesburg to Pretoria.”

He said that with the passage of Amotekun Bill, he was fulfilled that part of our dreams had been realised, saying: “This is a victory for all Nigerians.

“It is our victory in the South-West because 25 per cent of residents in Lagos and other South-West states are non- indigenes.”

He said that the region had all that it takes to set the pace for its development, stressing: “That is why it is very important for everybody to brace up for the take-off of that laudable project.”

Adams, who also urged Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to continue the development process embarked upon by his predecessor, Akinwunmi Ambode, said: “We can all testify to the various infrastructural development under the immediate past governor and his predecessors. The highlight of this transformation was the construction of modern roads in Epe, making it a city of pride for all and sundry.”

In his remark, the Oloja and paramount ruler of Epe Kingdom, Oba Kamorudeen Animashaun, applauded Adams for spreading the gospel of cultural transformation to Epe.
