After 20 years, residents of Larufi community in Remo North Local Government area of Ogun State have been provided with 500KVA transformer to end their years of suffering. The transformer was provided by the of Community and Social Development Agency (CSDA).

While playing host to the officials of the agency in his palace in Ode-Remo, the Alaye Ode of Ode-Remo, Oba Amidu Osho expressed gratitude to the state government and World Bank for the gesture. He revealed that the community had suffered neglect and experienced slow pace of economic development due to lack of basic infrastructure.

He said: “Initially, people did not believe the execution of the project would see the light of the day. We have been at the mercy of regular fueling of generators for the past years. In the last 20 years, it has been total darkness, but with the presence of CSDA in our community, light has come to Larufi, we are better secure, and our community is fast growing economically.”

Secretary, Community Project Management Committee (CPMC), Mr Adeoye Adefarasin, revealed that CSDA, in partnership with the World Bank, procured the transformer and construction of access culverts, with grading of roads within the area, which has increased socio-economic activities in the community and reduced cases of armed robberies tormenting the neighbourhood.

The head of CSDA team, Mr Tunde Falola, who expressed satisfaction at the quality of project executed, admonished them to focus more on the periodic monitoring and timely maintenance of the project.
