2.2m Nigerians benefit from TraderMoni
About 2.2 million traders in Nigeria have benefitted from the Federal Government’s TraderMoni scheme, aimed at lifting Nigerians out of poverty.
Executive Director, Bank of Industry (BOI), Toyin Adeniji stated in an interview with The Guardian in Enugu, where over 25,000 benefitted from TraderMoni, another 4000 benefitted from MarketMoni, explaining that government was passionate about the downtrodden.
She said many farmers have also been given loans to enable them increase their farming inputs, stressing that the social safety schemes have been embraced by Nigerians from all walks of life.
She said: “We have two programmes, Marketmoni and Tradermoni. Tradermoni is N10, 000. Marketmoni is N50, 000. Beneficiaries belong to market associations or trade associations.”
Adeniji said BOI has continued to drive the programme, ensuring beneficiaries return their money as at when due, to enable them benefit from other packages and that the responses have been encouraging.
