15 customers convicted for tampering with electricity materials

Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JED), yesterday, said 15 customers had been convicted for tampering and bypassing electricity metres in its states of operation; Plateau, Bauchi, Benue, Gombe and Nasarawa.

Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JED), yesterday, said 15 customers had been convicted for tampering and bypassing electricity metres in its states of operation; Plateau, Bauchi, Benue, Gombe and Nasarawa.

It also said it had commenced mass metering of customers in all of its areas of coverage. The Managing Director of JED, Alhaji Mohammed Gidado Modibbo, who said it has installed about 26,000 meters, warned that any customer found stealing electricity by bypassing the meters installed by its staff would be prosecuted in accordance with the law.

He added that JED over the past three years has set up a 24-hour customer service centre through which its esteemed customers can reach out to its customer service representatives to lodge their complaints.
