Young Nigerians are definitely making giant strides in the sector of technology through innovative ideas and creativity that pushes the needle in the 21st century.

Obi Omile

The twenty-seven-year-old Nigeran is the co-founder and chief executive officer of The Cut. For his works, Obi Omile was listed on Forbes 30 under 30. The Cut was founded in February 2016. It is a mobile marketplace connecting barbers and their clients.

The technology platform is rebranding men’s grooming experience by helping both clients and barber to effectively manage their schedules. Omile’s vast experiences as a software engineer analyst to a ios developer and a data analyst provide a wealth of experiential knowledge to The Cut.

Charles Onu

The alumni of the Federal University of Technology Owerri and McGill University is an Artificial Intelligence researcher, a software engineer and social innovator. Charles Onu Co-founded Ubenwa Intelligence Solutions in March 2017.

Ubenwa means “baby’s cry”. The Ubenwa mobile application helps parents and caregivers to detect birth asphyxia early without consulting a doctor. According to the World Health Organisation, birth asphyxia is the third leading killer of infants worldwide accounting for 23 percent of infants mortality.

This Ubenwa innovation will have a great impact in Africa where death caused by birth asphyxia is the highest globally as the continent still records high infant mortality rate from birth asphyxia. The condition has caused the death of 280,000 babies a year, on their first day of life, in sub-Saharan Africa.

Charles work has been centred on the application of technologies within the healthcare sector. He is a Jeanne Sauvé Fellow and an Associate Fellow of the Royal Commonwealth Society.

Prosper Otemuyiwa

He is a developer advocate, professional trainer, writer, technology advocate and creator of impactful technology solutions.

Prosper Otemuyiwa is a Nigerian to watch in 2019 with his vast working experiences which cuts across being a Java instructor and web developer at Swapspace systems, a software developer at Anakle, a code reviewer at Udacity, technical trainer at Andela, technical writer at Auth0, developer expert for Google and developer advocate at Meteor development group.

He is a recipient of the following awards:Programmer of the year,Code Fest Competition, winner of Software Exhibition and many others.

While working at Andela as a lead trainer and developer, he released his a project on Github called “Laravel Hackathon Starter Pack”, which is a tool to help developers get up-and-running quickly with MVPs.

Within four days of the release of the “Laravel Hackathon Starter Pack”, he amassed over 500 stars on Github which made him the number two on the top trending list of #PHP developers worldwide.
