Why Fans Didn’t Like Justin Timberlake’s Super Bowl Performance
A few days ago, Justin Timberlake released a new album–Man Of The Woods— which is his worst reviewed album yet. Taking the Super Bowl stage yesterday, his performance earned him mixed reviews that tilted towards the negative as he performed a number of songs including a duet with late music icon Prince.
The problem with this performance is that years ago, Prince had an interview with Guitar World Magazine where he was asked if he would like the use of digital editing to create a situation where he could perform with any artist in history. Prince was not a fan.
In fact, his exact description of the situation was ‘demonic’. When Justin Timberlake initially announced his performance with “Hologram Prince”, he received negative criticisms from Prince fans around the world. Shelia E, a friend of Prince, reached out to him and later confirmed that he said he would no longer be performing with a Prince hologram.
Although he kept his word and didn’t use a hologram, Timberlake still went ahead to perform with a digitally created prince-esque figure which generated a negative backlash. The last time Justin Timberlake performed at the Super Bowl back in 2004 wasn’t great either as the pop star ripped off Janet Jackson’s stage costume, exposing her right breast to 90 million viewers.

The Prince tribute would’ve been cool… except Prince specifically said he didn’t want that, right? Even in death, Prince continues to be misunderstood.

The only way this could turn out ok if if Prince’s mummified hand shoots down from space and chokes out JT on the 35 yard line

Yo… Prince didn’t like JT… JT didn’t like Prince… It’s well documented… why would you put his sprit through that.
