Interestingly, Lil Wayne is not the first rapper in recent times to show an interest in Nigeria as rappers like Cardi B and Meghan Thee Stallion in December 2019 visited the country.

Cardi B who was in the country for three days is yet to get over the fun she had during her trip as her social media posts has suggested her longing to return to the country. Shortly after she arrived back in the US, she shared on her Instastories that she is missing Nigeria.

Following the speculations of a possible World War 3 after President Donald Trump ordered an attack on Iran that led to the death of a top Iranian general Qasem Soleimani.

Reacting to the killing, Cardi B joked about moving out of USA to file for Nigerian citizenship and her tweet elicited excited responses from her Nigerian fans who made it clear she is more than welcome to the country.

Cardi B’s tweet about possible citizenship in Nigeria also caught the attention of one of Nigeria’s top government officials, Abike Dabiri-Erewa who is the chairman of Nigeria’s Diaspora Commission. Dabiri responded with the tweet:

@iamcardib As one in charge of the Diaspora for Ngr, We can’t wait to receive you again. Our doors are open, sister. And you need to talk a walk through the Door of Return in Badagry . It’s an indescribable experience.”

Furthermore, one of Lil Wayne’s signees and Cardi B’s alleged rap queen rival, Nicki Minaj has also expressed a desire to visit Nigeria. Her interest in Nigeria may have been sparked by Cardi’s recent visit as the “Barbie Dripz” crooner said she loves the energy from the country.
