Serena Williams Introduces Her Baby Girl To The World
Serena Williams, only two weeks after giving birth to a baby girl, shared the first photo of her daughter.
The 23-time grand slam singles champion gave birth on the first of September, and announced on Wednesday that she and her fiance, Alexis Ohanian, had named their daughter Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr.
She posted the photo on her Instagram page and captioned it:
“Meet Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr. You have to check out link in bio for her amazing journey. Also check out my IG stories đđâ¤ď¸â¤ď¸”
Williams and Ohanian also shared a video of the tennis champion’s pregnancy, which showed her training throughout the year, winning the Australian Open while eight weeks pregnant, and then the name, date of birth and weight of Alexis.
The Tennis champion said in the video welcoming her first child that there were “a lot of complications”, but does not elaborate on it.
Patrick Mouratoglou, Williams’ coach, said a longer recovery could affect her hopes of returning to the tour in time to defend her Australian Open title in January.
Williams trained through her pregnancy and has set her sights on overtaking Margaret Courtâs all-time record of 24 slam singles titles.
Speaking to Eurosport, the coach said:
âAs soon as we feel she is ready to compete, she will. If that is Australia, thatâs great. If itâs a bit later, thatâs fine. She says she still has things to achieve in tennis. She is both a tennis player and a mother, and she has to deal with both of them. She wants to be able to win slams otherwise she will stop. For Serena, anything is possible. I cannot put any kind of limit on her. Any time Iâve thought she wonât make it, she did. Which I donât do any more.â
