Rihanna Is Shutting Down New York Fashion Week With Savage X Fenty Show

After skipping a year at New York Fashion Week (NYFW), Rihanna, everyone’s favourite singer-cum-actress-cum-designer, is returning to the NYFW calendar with what promises to be an “immersive experience”.

This time, she’s bringing her line of lingerie and intimate accessories to the Brooklyn runway on September 12.

Rihanna has remained a consistent bright spot at some fashion shows and her shows have remained a genuine, party-starting, must-see spectacle.

She had been showing her Fenty PUMA line at fashion week for a few seasons before taking a one-season break after her Spring/Sumer 2018 show. But unlike her previous runways in New York and Paris, she is showing without PUMA this time.

This is much needed at the annual event, which has begun to deteriorate from high-end designers skipping it entirely.

Rihanna’s Savage x Fenty show will be the grand finale of Fashion Week, pushing Marc Jacobs an hour and a half up from his usual spot. The show, set to begin at 7.30 PM EDT, will see the debut of her lingerie line’s Spring/Summer 2019 collection. Vogue describes the show as “the unofficial closer of NYFW.”

Upon her brand launch in May, the Savage x Fenty website crashed several times due to the high demand. Rihanna’s line features bras, underwear, furry robes, and more. It was heralded not only for being affordable but for being inclusive in terms of sizing. Along with featuring a diverse lineup of models, the collection also boasts a wide range of nude shade options for all skin tones in both bras and underwear.

Products from the latest Savage x Fenty collection will be available immediately following the show on savagex.com. There will also be pop-up shops in New York, the Mall of America, and two locations to be announced.

Although few details are available about the nature of the event or the collection, you can bet that many of Rihanna’s favourite muses will be there, promoting body positivity, female sexuality and killer style.
