The government of Barbados have revealed that they will be changing St. Michael Westbury New Road, the street that Rihanna grew up on, to Rihanna Drive.

The Ministry of Tourism for the Caribbean country wrote in a statement:

“The Government of Barbados will on Independence Day, Thursday 30th November, 2017 officially change the name of Westbury New Road located in St. Michael to Rihanna Drive in honour of Barbadian superstar Ms. Robyn Rihanna Fenty who grew up in Westbury New Road.”

That’s not all. On this special occasion, Barbados’ Prime Minister and Rihanna herself will unveil the street sign for Rihanna Drive during the two-hour ceremony.

Rihanna has given back heavily to her home country. The singer, who was named Harvard University’s Humanitarian of the Year in February, donated $1.75 million to Barbados’ Queen Elizabeth Hospital in 2012. She also created the Clara and Lionel Foundation Scholarship Program for students attending college in the United States from Barbados and other Caribbean countries.

November 30th is also Barbados’s Independence Day. While that doesn’t officially mean it’s also Rihanna Day, we’ll just pretend it is.

On that note, November is a really good time to take a short trip to Barbados. Just saying!
