The fourth episode of Game of Thrones Season Seven, entitled “The Spoils Of War”, which was marked For Internal Viewing Only by the HBO team, leaked two days earlier than the intended release date which was to be on Sunday, August 6, 2017. It has been widely shared on Reddit and other forums online via a Google Drive link. This isn’t the first time Games Of Thrones has been leaked online. Back in 2015, the first four episodes of season five were widely-shared online ahead of the broadcast date.

Earlier this week, about 1.5 terabytes of data was purportedly stolen by hackers from HBO’s servers, including upcoming episodes of the network’s most popular shows. HBO is the US network behind series like Game Of Thrones, Ballers, Westword and so. The HBO hackers previously threatened to release additional content this Sunday (6 August), but it seems this was brought forward a few days.

Some channels acknowledged the cyber attack but did not confirm the leak.

According to The Verge, the Game Of Thrones season 7 episode 4 leak was not the result of the HBO hack earlier this month. It was obtained from the website of Star India, who has been handling distribution of HBO content in India since 2015.

However, users have reported that links to the leaked Game Of Thrones episode are being quickly taken down. In fact, an entire Reddit thread that pointed to places online where the episode was still available has now been shutdown, too. This shows that the situation is currently being handled.

According to Variety, the hackers sent a new threat via an automated email reply stating that they will “release the leak gradually every week” citing tomorrow, being Sunday, as the next potential time.
