The viral “10 years challenge” that has dominated social media space has emerged the second most searched topic on Google’s search engine in the past seven days.

But which term fills the top spot?

The most searched term in the past seven days in Nigeria is “peptic ulcer”. The term gained more search entries after it was announced that rapper Lord of Ajasa was critically ill of Peptic Ulcer and in need of funds.

Babatunde Gbadamosi, a Lagos governorship candidate, piqued a lot of interests at the governorship debate which drove the search for information about him. His intelligently debated points and solutions proffered to the different challenges of the metropolitan Lagos State gained him some popularity after the debate and sparked a frantic search for any available information on the little known real estate developer.

The third most searched term was Asiwaju/Asiwaju Twitter, the term notoriety after posts on the microblogging website, Twitter emerged alleging that one Michael Asiwaju is a serial rapist. You can read about the whole drama here.

During the All Progressives Congress (APC) rally in Lagos, news emerged that the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) Lagos State Treasurer Musiliu Akinsanya (a.k.a MC Oluomo) was stabbed and three journalists had been shot. A fair bit of uncertainty followed about the state of health of the popular MC Oluomo whose name featured in Teni the Entertainer’s infectious song titled ‘Case’. Rumours about his death caused a spike in the number of searches for MC Oluomo to place him as the fifth most term.

Other terms that featured in the top trends in Nigeria in the last seven days include former Chelsea midfielder Cesc “Fabregas” who completed a move to Monaco, “Andy Murray” who called time on his career due to persistent pain from an injury. Falz Talk, ASUU Strike and Bola Tinubu made up the remaining terms in the top ten trends in Nigeria in the past seven days.
