Nigerian actor Yul Edochie has taken to his Twitter page to lament the poor quality of the Nigerian film industry Nollywood.

According to the screen star, the quality of home videos has  dropped badly as there are now a lot of “crappy actors, actresses and directors in the industry.”

The outspoken actor cum politician while admitting that there are still those who put out good works advised that something has to be done to ensure Nollywood maintains its global appeal.

He wrote:

“The quality of our home videos has dropped so much. Lots of crappy actors/actresses, crappy directors.
We can’t continue like this.

To all seasoned Nollywood practitioners, please, let’s revive it. People love our content all over the world. We just need to step up the quality.

Don’t get me wrong my people. We have many dedicated Executive producers, producers, directors, actors and other crew members who are doing great jobs.

At the same time we have some who are messing up our efforts with their ‘shoot it like that’ attitude.
It has to stop.”

Last year, Edochie survived an accident along Ore- Benin expressway but sustained non-life threatening injuries

In an Instagram post, the former gubernatorial aspirant says that he was on his way to the East from Lagos when he got involved in the accident and sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Edochie is the son of seasoned veteran actor Pete Edochie. Pete who is a Catholic rose to prominence in the 1980s and thanks to his lead role as Okonkwo in an NTA adaptation of Chinua Achebe’s best-selling novel, “Things Fall Apart”
