 The Simmering Method:

The simmering method is the quickest and easiest way to prepare Rosewater.

Ingredient:

8 rose

Distilled water

Large pot

Method:

Remove petals from the stems

Wash them lightly with lukewarm water

Put the petals in a pot and add enough water that will cover it (11/2 cup) anything more will dilute the Rosewater

Let the water simmer on low heat until the petals have lost their colours, leave for 15/30 minutes

Put it down and let it cool

Use the strainer to remove petals and discard it

Bottle the rose water

The Distilling Method:

The distilling method is a traditional way of preparing Rosewater, it is more time consuming and of a natural benefit than simmering method.

Ingredient:

5 cups of rose petals

Ice cubes

Large pot with lid

Distilled water

Strainer

Glass bowl

Bottle

A clean brick or stone

Method:

Place the brick or stone in the middle of the pot and put the glass bowl on it

Do not put the petals inside the bowl but around the brick

Pour distilled water on the brick, let the water be above the lid

Invert the lid on the pot; place your ice on the lid, add more ice when the one on the lid has melted

Let it simmer for 20-30 minutes on low heat

When removing the lid ensure the melted ice doesn’t pour into the bowl

Let it cool

Remove with strainer and bottle the rose water.
