Many times in the summer, it’s usually a hassle finding things to keep one engaged if you’re not already enrolled for a program or summer activity or even traveling.

I’ve thought this through as one who has been through this and here are a few recommendations for what to get upto this summer.

  • Update your wardrobe:You would say ‘he can’t do without talking about fashion’, and truthfully I can’t help but talk about fashion. Sorting through your clothes and picking out the ones you don’t want any more is good for starters. Have some friends over, and ask them to bring some clothes they’re willing to trade, or you sell them at a yard sale to raise some spending money. This can go on for as long as you’re willing to let it go on for.
  • Organize or redecorate your room: It’s not necessarily the most interesting thing for some people to do but it beats sitting around doing nothing. Even just sorting through old clutter can help you find old toys, books, and other nostalgic objects. You can also paint your room or hang up posters and pictures..
  • Play games around sunset: Just before it gets too dark, when the temperatures cool off, gather a group of friends to play games some outdoor games. Hide-and-seek and the likes of games, and if the evening is still too hot for physical activity, set up a table outside and play card games or board games while the air cools down. Classics like Chess, Checkers, or any board game’s magnetic travel version are even easier to find.
  • Get in touch with old friends. If your current friends are out of town or busy, look through your old yearbooks, phone contacts, or emails and reconnect with people you used to know. Any of the activities above can be more fun with friends, or you can simply spend an afternoon catching up with each other or reminiscing.
  • Act like a tourist in your own town:Surf the internet for inspiration on places that would interest you and pay visits. They could be art galleries, restaurants, beaches or even parks. Look at what attracts people traveling from other locations in your town, or in areas a short drive away.
  • Learn to cook: If you don’t know how to cook or you don’t know much about food, you could learn some recipes now. There are thousands of recipes available online. Eat, Eat, Eat and Eat again.
