So, you have several eyeshadow palletes and pieces in your drawer and makeup bag that you have no idea what to do with anymore? It happens. It’s pretty easy to end up with so many eyeshadow pieces, we rarely have any use for some. But eyeshadow doesn’t have to be just for adding colour to your eye lids or creating dramatic eye looks. Gather up the eyeshadow you think you have no need for and use them for something else.

6 Different Uses for Eyeshadow

Contouring Powder
Using a matte brown or taupe shadow and a small, dense blending brush will give you a very defined contour. Carve out the hollows of your cheeks, define along your jawline and shade at your temples. You can then use a larger, fluffy blush or contour brush and a light bronzer to blend out any harsh lines you created with the shadow.

Lip Tint
If you have clear lip balm and a broken eye shadow, you can very easily create your very own lip tint. Take your broken or loose shadow, and grind it out until it’s smooth. In a small plastic, mix your ground powder with the clear lip balm. The more shadow you add, the more pigmented it will be.  Use on bare lips for a share look, or over lipstick for added shimmer.

Eyeliner
If you don’t want to use conventional eye liners, try using your eyeshadow. Dip a damp, fine-pointed brush in a dark shadow, and apply as close to the lash line as possible. You can make the line as thick or as thin as you like; and don’t be afraid to get creative. Too harsh? Try smudging the liner close to your upper and lower lash line and blend slightly with a fluffy brush.

Eyebrow Powder
Eyeshadow can also serve as an alternative to eyebrow pencils and waxes, Use a matte shadow that’s darker than your hair colour by one or two shades, and fill in your brows with an angle brush. Use short, defined strokes to give the appearance of actual brow hair for a natural look. Set the powder with a clear or tinted brow gel to keep your brows in place all day!

Highlighter
Use a fan brush and your’ champagne-toned shadows for popping highlights. Dust a little bit of the shadow on your cheekbones, the bridge of your nose, on your cupid’s bow and under the arch of your brow. Make sure you do it lightly though, so you have more of a soft sheen than a harsh glow.

Nail Polish

If you’re tired of your regular nail polish colours, you can mix ground eyeshadow and clear nail polish to create your own colour. The process is the same as when creating the lip paint, except you’re substituting balm with polish.
