My very first Frank Edward experience occurred in the year 2012. I cannot remember clearly when exactly but I was in Calabar at the time serving my motherland. I stayed with a very precious family and on our way to work every day Frank Edwards album was the entertainment for the ride.

This happened for three months and on every other occasion that involved a road trip, little wonder that this routine made me familiar with most of the tracks on the album. A personal favourite till today remains ‘Beautiful’, the lyrics held so much meaning and I had a sense of understanding of the voice that motivated me to believe in myself and all that I represented at the time and now that I think about it, that voice resonates deeply when self-doubt brings up its ugly head.

Frank Edwards who rebranded gospel rock in Nigeria has released 4 albums. In 2012 he won West Africa’s best male vocalist while grabbing three awards at the Nigerian Gospel Music Awards for – Male Artist of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Male Vocal. His recent album “Frankincense” which featured veterans in the gospel industry such as Micah Stampley and Nathaniel Bassey topped the chart on iTunes few hours of its release.  One of the singles from the album ‘Frankincense’ was one of the most streamed song on streaming platform Spinlet in the month of July. Frank has also had the honour of releasing a song with American singer, song writer, pastor and producer Don Moen.  It is safe to say that award winning musician Frank Edwards has carved a niche for himself in the gospel industry in Nigeria and has continued to excel.

Frank is a man of many talents, he is a producer and master mixer as well as the founder of Rocktown Records which he created as a platform to develop the new generation of upcoming talents.  The Frank Edward experience is intense, it is uplifting, it is motivational and it has created a balance for the old and young generation of gospel artists. The 26-year-old star has heavily influenced the life of many Nigerians and has become a household name in record time since his debut of 2008.

The Nigerian music industry is structured in such a way that certain genres do not get the recognition that they deserve, and that has been the case with the gospel sector. Frank on the other hand is one of the few musicians that has made a successful break in the music industry not just in his specified field but across the music industry as a whole.  He has sold the Nigerian Dream in his unique case and is a star and role model to many.
