The black queen is a boss in her industry. Kehinde Smith is the CEO of My Extensionz My Lash Extensionz, My Celebrity Teeth, HerBlings, & Taste My Fashion. Her brand is well known for supplying the highest quality of virgin hair to everyday working class women, hair salons and celebrities worldwide. Kehinde is not only a diva in the red carpet but also a serial entrepreneur and a business mogul.

Introduce yourself?

My name is Kehinde Smith. I am a set of twin out of 2 sets. I have a passion entrepreneurship, I love reading, and I love spending time with family.  I am one of the founders of My Extensionz, My Lash Extensionz, My Celebrity Teeth, HerBlings, & Taste My Fashion.

How long has My Extensionz been in existence and what motivated you to establish the company?

My Extensionz has been established for a little over 4 years now. I was driven to start my My Extensionz because there were a major lack of quality in the hair industry for an expensive price. I am the type of woman that doesn’t mind spending much just as long as I’m receiving my money’s worth out of every usage. Many hardworking women including myself fell victim to poor quality hair for an expensive tag. I was fed up at one time and I decided to do something instead of sitting around complaining. I began doing my own research on sourcing the best quality hair in the market for over 1 year until I was comfortable enough to sell my first bundle to my first client.

What influenced your decision to establish a branch of My Extensionz in Nigeria?

Besides the fact that we were getting plenty of orders from Nigeria alone. I just thought it would only be right to bring the success back to the mothers and of course bring quality virgin hair to the market.

Rumor has it that you and Merek are dating for publicity stunt, can you tell us where the relationship is going?

Publicity Stunt? Why would it be so hard to believe that we “dated”? We are both in our 20’s, Good looking, and entrepreneurs.

I know your brand caters to the elite in society, any plans to cater to the general public that are interested in buying your brand?

We do not discriminate. We cater to all classes. We will never sell a lower or higher quality grade to a certain class. Our clients does not have to be super wealthy to afford our products.

What has been your biggest achievement?

Being able to build my brand and making sure my logo alone is unforgettable in the beauty industry.

Given the high level of increase of hair brands in Nigeria, how do you intend to maintain good qualities as well as remain competitive?

Absolutely! Nothing has changed in the last 4 years since we started and that’s one of our secret ingredients thus far.

What makes My Extension different from other brands? What makes us different from other brands is our unique smell of the hair. If any of our clients is reading this they would know what I mean by that statement. Our quality is guaranteed to last for up to 4 years or longer.

There are a wide range of My Extensionz styles which is your favorite and why?

My favorite collection would be our top seller which is the Whisper Body Wave. My signature hairstyle is usually a soft body wave. I love it!

What are your goals and where do you see yourself in the next 10 years?

We will be branching off with educational Virgin Hair showrooms throughout the world and making sure people think of My Extensionz the moment “Virgin Hair “is mentioned.

Do you plan on establishing more branches in other African countries?

Definitely. We are looking into expanding to South Africa or Ghana next.

What message will you like to send to our fellow Nigerians that own companies abroad?

Come back home and invest in your country so we can grow and encourage other young entrepreneurs that success is possible.

Do you have a role model?

My role model is my mother. She is an entrepreneur herself. If it weren’t for her there wouldn’t be any type of professionalism or entrepreneurship in my blood. My customer inspires me. Each time i serve them they tell me what they like or wish to have. They are the reasons why we come up with the latest innovating hairpieces and tools.

Which celebrity do you wish would use your brand?

Although we’ve had many celebrities wear My Extensionz, it would be totally radical for Rihanna to rock with our brand.

What is your favorite quote?

“You do good, You do for yourself. You do bad, you do for yourself”. My mom would tell us this all the time when we would slip up.

You own the company with your twin right sister, what effect has it added to the company?

We are very lucky and grateful to God to have each other. Having Taiwo as my business partner is the best expensive ingredient that no one can pay to have. It is great to have a partner and not have to look over your shoulders and worry about trust . You can’t buy trust.
