The world was thrown into a state of mourning in August 2018 when it was announced that the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin is dead.

The talented songstress who is one of the most successful music acts however had some of her assets stolen prior to her death.

It is gathered that the police are on the hunt for someone who stole from the late singer. According to legal documents obtained by celebrity gossip site, “TMZ”, police in Michigan are conducting an investigation into the theft of Franklin’s assets before she died.

Weeks after Aretha Franklin’s death, an auction house on September 7, 2018, announced the sale of more than 30 dresses worn by the Queen of Soul. Julien’s Auctions said the outfits would go on sale along with items from other musical icons on November 9 and 10 in New York.<br />KEVIN WINTER / GETTY IMAGES NORTH AMERICA / AFP

It is learnt that a criminal probe has been launched into someone inappropriately using her funds although it is unclear how much has gone missing. We also gather that a report was filed last June.

Franklin’s finances have been under the microscope following her death as the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is hounding her estate, claiming she owes more than N2,301,516,000 ($6.3 million) in back taxes.

Franklin is being dogged over legal bills but we are quite sure that wasn’t what she had in mind when she famously sang, “I’m about to give you all of my money.”
