Oprah Winfrey Speaks Out About Megxit
Oprah Winfrey has spoken out about the suggestion that she gave advice to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle ahead of their announcement about their plans to step down as senior royals.
It was earlier reported by some news tabloids on Thursday that Oprah, a friend of the royal couple, and one of the A-list guests at their wedding in 2018, had talked through their decision with them and even “encouraged” them to pursue a new life in North America.
However, Oprah has now set the record straight, insisting this is not the case as reported by HuffPost.
In her words:
“Meghan and Harry do not need my help figuring out what’s best for them, I care about them both and support whatever decisions they make for their family.”
Earlier in the week, Meghan and her husband decided to step back as senior members of the palace with the intention of becoming financially independent.
A Buckingham Palace spokesperson later said discussions were “at an early stage”, adding: “We understand their desire to take a different approach, but these are complicated issues that will take time to work through.”
However, it has been disclosed that the Queen is disappointed about this development.
