Kenneth Petty the husband of rapper Nicki Minaj was reportedly arrested Wednesday by United States Marshals on an indictment for failing to register as a sex offender.

According to TMZ, Petty, 41, remains in federal custody after he turned himself in to the Marshals during a court appearance today.

Petty’s legal trouble started after he moved to California from New York in July 2019.

He was pulled over by Beverly Hills Police on November 15 and was found to be registered as a sex offender only in New York, he had failed to also register in California.

He was arrested and later released on a $20,000 bond.

In spite of this, he still did not registered and has been indicted in federal court for failing to register.

The U.S Marshals, in a post on their Twitter page, confirmed that Petty surrendered himself:

“We can confirm that Kenneth Petty self-surrendered to the U.S. Marshals in Los Angeles today.”

Trinidad and Tobago-born rapper Nicki Minaj and Kenneth Petty tied the knot in October, 2019 after less than one year of dating.

The “Megatron” rapper’s romance with Petty has been a cause for constant backlash from fans consequent of Petty’s criminal records.

Petty was convicted of attempted rape in 1995. He also has a first-degree manslaughter conviction in 2006 in the fatal 2002 shooting of a man named Lamont Robinson, which he served seven years of a 10-year sentence.
