Every Dad wants to be cool. Regardless of how much tough love they give, they were once young and want to remain hip. Come to think of it, we have Mothering Sunday, and Mother’s Day but there is only one Father’s day – so if you are reading this, start clearing out the space to place your reward for giving the best gift ever! A well-rounded gift box should bring Dad to say, “wow, you know me so well!” so let’s examine a few thoughtful aspects.

Office
Ever had that colleague who is constantly trying to show you pictures of their cat on their phone? Don’t make him that guy, let’s pique their curiosity with a simple picture frame, digital photo frame, a plaque or award for Best Dad of 2020. These are office appropriate, won’t break the bank and best of all, he can always sneak them into the frame of his zoom meetings.
Other subtle ideas are; a fancy desk clock, a pair of Happy Socks, golf-themed pens or even a mug with ‘Coolest Dad’. We suggest gifting memorable items that open up the topic of “how cute! do you have kids?”
Home
What does he wear on the weekends? Denim, joggers, jalamia? How about his footwear? Consider some slides, leather footwear made in Nigeria or even custom t-shirts with some of his favourite slangs.
Bath and body gift sets are also always welcome as one can’t have too many soaps or lotions!

Social Gatherings
Yes, the coronavirus has changed how we live and go about hygiene, but this just means you have more options for gifts! Face masks and face shields are taking on a humorous twist with animated faces and drawn-on features.
No matter how straight-faced your Dad gets, he’ll get a laugh out of these masks while staying safe.
You can also give him a long purse so he can pose at his Owambe outings in the (social distancing) future – extra points for adding his initials. Finally, plush monogrammed footwear with a crest or his initials are coming back. Raise his style cred with these pairs in either velvet blue or red.
Other aspects
Dads are all-rounded individuals and they come with varied personalities. If your Dad is into Golf, Basketball or even Soccer, remind him that sports will soon return by customising a polo shirt, athleisure piece, pair of sneakers or even his favourite jersey with either his name or an inside joke.
Fancy himself a techie? Get him a Rocketbook intelligent notepad, a drone, LED power bank, or even a 3-in-1 charger for his mobile gadgets.
A connoisseur of drinks? A hip flask, whisky glass, shot glasses, or even a highly reviewed brand within his area of expertise would be appreciated.
The guy who has everything? Quill and ink pens or even a model sailboat could be just the thing.

Note that if he has a lot of one item, you can gift him a cool version of it!
When Dad is just a mysterious figure that is always on a business trip, luggage tags, fingerprint smart padlocks and passport covers will keep you close to his thoughts while he’s away.
Now note, whether these recommendations be for your Dad, your Mum who plays that role or for the father to your children; customise, customise, customise. Personalised and “experience” types of gifts are some of the best kind. So in addition to all the above, plan to make some memories; take care of the details and plan a few hours you’re certain he would LOVE. This can be as big or small as you’d like to make it.
