The one thing about fashion that everyone agrees on is that it gives you a clear shot idea of a person. Hats can do the same thing. Just like Frank Beddor said in Hatter M. Volume 1: The Looking Glass Wars, “For no matter what the world, men who deal in headwear are men to be trusted above any other.”

Finding the perfect hat is a tricky business and wearing the wrong hat can make you the butt of the joke. With seemingly endless styles to choose from, we have listed some simple tricks to pull off wearing a hat.

The Fedora

Although the fedora gets a lot of flak, if done properly, it will instantly add some old-school charm to contemporary looks. Try the fedora hat with a Cuban collar shirt and tailored trousers, or steer traditional with tailoring as a way to stand out from the rest of the suited crowd.

The Bucket Hat

This is streetwear fashion and unless you are headed for a concert, pair it with stripped-back essentials.

The Flat Cap

It shouldn’t be worn too tight or have too much excess fabric that could cause unsightly bunching at the top of your head.

The Beanie

It is meant to give you the ruggedly casual look and you can pair with formal overcoats.

The Panama Hat

Wear your Panama hat with a modern outfit like a suit worn as separates and dressed down by simple basics or with an Oxford shirt slipped under a suede jacket.
