Taking selfies is an art, believe it or not. Mastering the art could mean the difference between a badly taken picture and a magazine cover-worthy shot.

Of course to some people mastering the art of taking selfies might seem like a waste of time but this is 2018 and social media has come to stay and while using it you might as well use it right.

Lighting
Find the perfect lighting because bad lighting means bad picture. Good lighting saves you the stress of using too many filters and camera lighting. The best lighting to use is sunrise and sunset – it gives you the perfect glow.

Quality camera
Maybe you didn’t know this but the camera you photograph with matters. If you can afford one, buy a camera like Nikon D7000 otherwise there are still phone cameras that have HD quality too like the iPhone and Samsung series. Good camera quality equals good looking picture.

Filters

Even with good lighting and camera, using filters are a must. Filters enhance your already good picture. VSCO and Snapseed are some of the most popular Photo filter apps to find.

Time
Never be in a rush to take a picture. Take as many as possible for as long as possible. The probability of having the perfect selfie with on one take is incredibly low.

Angles
A tilt of the head, a smize- smiling with your eyes- in the eyes, a placement of a hand make all the difference when taking pictures. Practice in the mirror to know what your good angles are.
