While the year is just getting started, some of our celebrities have found themselves as the subject of conversations ranging from their personal beliefs to being at the centre of a celebration.

Here is a rundown of the week:

The Moral “Transaction”

When Falz announced the release of his socio-political themed album titled “Moral Instruction” via his Instagram account, many were excited to see what the new “Fela” would drop. True to the album’s name, it bothered on conversations around politics, corruption, prostitution, social injustice and fraud. The album’s cover art was also designed by the legendary art illustrator, Lemi Ghariokwu who is renowned for designing most of the works for the Late Fela Anikulapo Kuti’s albums. However, people were offended with his disregard for transactional sex saying that anyone can do as she deems fit with her body.

Fenty war

In a surprising lawsuit, pop sensation, Rihanna has slammed her father, Ronald Fenty and his business partner, Moses Joktan Perkins with a lawsuit for allegedly misrepresenting their ties “to solicit millions of dollars from unsuspecting third parties”. She alleges that her father and his business partner have fraudulently misrepresented to third parties and the public that their company is affiliated with her. It is also learnt that they allegedly “accepted” concert deals one of which includes Rihanna to play 15 shows in Latin America for $15 million (N5.4 billion).

An Egyptian university overturned its decision to expel a male student over hugging his female friend on campus. The young man Mahmoud appeared in a video carrying a bouquet of flowers kneeling before a woman and then hugging her. The viral footage prompted the expulsion of both students from their respective universities. However, the Mansoura university in northern Egypt reversed its decision and banned him from taking the semester’s exams. A day later, Al-Azhar university in Cairo said that the female student would be prevented for taking the first half of her exams.
