Friday Night At Xovar Lounge
The week before this was filled with sad and heavy news that it forces you to live in the moment. It was a very cold and windy night as I made my way to Xovar Lounge located at 19B Sabitex Hotel Road, off Lekki-Epe Expressway.
A lot has changed in this lounge since the last time I visited. I believe they went through a rebranding phase from the appearance right down to the waitresses, who were dressed in very chic Ankara outfits.
While we sat down to enjoy the football game and have a little chit-chat, the nicest waitress in the history of Nigerian waitresses came with the menu. She was very helpful and on standby while we made our order and for the rest of our stay.
It didn’t take too long for the drink to arrive. I ordered the Screaming Orgasm and a good old plate of the spicy peppered snail with chips. I was sceptical as usual about the dish I ordered. Especially because it doesn’t take a lot of effort to fail a snail dish and most restaurants never deliver on my option of spicy.
My meal arrived and the plating was intriguing, for a lounge with a laidback vibe, I did not expect the plating I got, but I was happy for it all the same. My meal arrived my table hot and that made me excited about digging in.
The chips were crunchy and properly fried. The peppered snail was a perfect balance of spicy and peppery. The snail itself was properly cooked and I fell in love with this meal with every single bite.
My cocktail, on the other hand, was not the best, maybe I should give up on cocktails. A mixture of vodka and Irish cream and other ingredients, I certainly tried to complement the meal.
Overall, it was a nice experience and the perfect way to end a hectic week. Will I be heading back to Xovar Lounge? Definitely! I’d be sure to try out another cocktail and cross my fingers in the bid to get
it right.
