Hollywood star Will Smith hopes his new film Bright will draw attention to some of the issues dividing society today.

Smith, who on Friday, December 15, attended the UK premiere of the film, said it was an exciting time to witness the way the world is changing.

Directed by Suicide Squad filmmaker David Ayer, Bright is set in an alternative present-day reality where humans live alongside orcs, elves and fairies. It tells the story of two Los Angeles police officers who discover a magic relic with great power and have to protect it. The film uses this science fiction story to delve into issues such as race and classicism.

Bright, which also stars Joel Edgerton and Noomi Rapace, will be released on Netflix on December 22.
