United States President Donald Trump on Thursday scoffed at South Korean film Parasite for its unprecedented victories at the Oscars 2020 awards.

Trump during a rally at Colorado blasted the Academy for giving Bong Joon-Ho’s dark comedy the top prize at the 92nd Academy Awards, Variety reported.

“How bad were the Academy Awards this year?” Trump asked, prompting jeers from the crowd. “Did you see it?”

“The winner is a movie from South Korea. What the hell was that all about? We’ve got enough problems with South Korea, with trade. And after all that, they give them best movie of the year?”

“So many great movies…” he bemoaned before again mocking, “the winner is from South Korea!”

“I thought it was best foreign film, right? Best foreign movie. Did this ever happen before?”

Parasite made history at the 92nd Academy Awards. Bong Joon-ho won all four categories for which he was nominated: Best Picture, Best Director, International Feature Film and Original Screenplay. It was the first non-English-language film in Oscar history to win the award for Best Picture. The film was up against stiff competition which included 1917, Joker, Marriage Story, The Irishman, Jojo Rabbit, Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood, Ford v Ferrari and Little Women.

Bong became the first person to win four awards for a single film in Academy Award history. Parasite was also the first South Korean-made film to be nominated for the Best Picture award at the Academy Awards.

Parasite follows the members of a poor family who scheme to become employed by a wealthy family by infiltrating their household and posing as unrelated, highly qualified individuals.

Meanwhile, Neon, the distributor of Parasite responded to Trump’s jabs by tweeting that it was “understandable” that Trump couldn’t comprehend the subtitled film.
