What does it mean to be Christian in the 21st Century? Who do you say God is? What does your life tell other people about the God you serve? Are you a Sunday church going fellow? Or do your friends and family determine how you serve God?

All these questions and many more come to mind as you read Secret Places by Vivian Kay. The book is centered around Moni and Ladi Badmus who are having challenges in their marriage, these challenges also affect their teenage daughter Shekinah. On the other hand you have Debo and Adele Ajala the happy and romantic couple, Debo is a Deacon in church and Adele is the mother of their four kids and an elementary school teacher, their life is enviable and calm. Or so it seems.

Moni is torn between the devil and the deep blue sea when she is faced with a divorce which would take her daughter away from her. Sam has lost his faith in God or maybe he never had it and has put Moni in a tough corner to choose between her daughter and all that she believes in.

Vivian Kay spins a tale about the complexities in modern marriage, the complexities in being a Christian in the 21st century and how it all falls back to your personal. relationship with God. Believe it or not, this is a tale about Christian swingers which is not what you expect when you read a Christian novel. She takes us on an emotional roller coaster that is relatable as it is realistic.

I loved how she added bible verses as motivation for the characters as the novel goes on. This novel was a page turner and one of my best reads for the month of November!
