Nature has a way of surprising us. From things we consider inconsequential to things too big to ignore, we see some things and can’t help but appreciate the beauty in its gifts.

Lakes are one of such gifts. It is amazing how Lake Baikal in Russia takes a step back from the regular colourless ice to give a beautiful turquoise blue ice colour; the pink lake in Senegal, Lake Retba and the Ik-Kil Cenote which transports you to Disney’s animation feature film, Moana, literally. Yet, it has become a large part of us that most people no longer regard them for the beauty that they are.

However, the pictures you are about to see will remind you of what you have long forgotten , so get your “oohs” and “aahs” ready.

The beach in Mauritius is a beach as the name suggests but you might agree (depending on your perspective) that the sand pouring into the beach to create an illusion of an underwater waterfall is as spectacular and therefore, deserving of a spot in this post.

Caught your fancy? Bet you’d love to visit one of these lakes.
