All The Excitement That Happened During The Week

A really intriguing week it has been for Nigerians and entertainers around the world. Thankfully, for the most of it, we’ve had positives ranging from the proud becoming empathic to international wins spiced with a bit of hilarious display. Here is a rundown of the week:

The reunion

Kanye and Kim

It’s been trying times for the Wests since Kanye West’s dramatic episodes on twitter. The episodes which Kim described as “bipolar episode,” has left many questioning his creativity and intentions for running as president. In his outbursts, he revealed that he wanted to divorce Kim, blacklisted her mother Kris Jenner and accused Kim of putting out a statement without his permission. During this time, he refused to see Kim in Wyoming where he is. After visiting the clinic for anxiety, it appears that he and Kim have reunited as she was pictured crying in a car while they settled their issues.

Apologies from 50? No Way!

Megan The Stallion and 50 Cent

50 cent, the troll king, has finally apologised for one of his “insensitive” jokes, and we are as shocked as you are. Megan Thee Stallion who was shot recently by Tory Lanez was the 45-year-old’s newest troll puppet after her shooting. Megan, it appears, didn’t find it funny. Describing the incident as the “worst experience of her life,” she took to Instagram to talk about the surgery she had to undergo to remove the bullets in her feet. Addressing those who made jokes about it, she said, “Karma gonna take care of you’re a*s, I ain’t gotta do it.” 50, in turn, publicly asked for the 25-year-old rapper’s forgiveness because he didn’t think it was that serious.

 Davido

These are good times for Nigerian Afrobeats singer Davido as his album “A Good Time” has reached over a billion streams on all platforms. The critically acclaimed album was certified platinum by the Recording Industry of South Africa in just three months of its release. In February, the album along with two singles on it; “Blow My Mind” featuring Chris Brown and “Risky” featuring Jamaican dancehall act Popcaan, were certified platinum in the United States. “Risky” went double platinum. “Fall”, the second single off the album has continued to break records three years after it was released. This, my friends, is greatness.

Emmys Victory

Yvonne Orji and Uzo Aduba

It’s another win for Nigeria as three actors of Nigerian descent, Yvonne Orji (Insecure), Uzo Aduba (Mrs. America) and Jovan Adepo (Watchmen) were among those nominated at this years Emmys Awards. While Uzo Aduba has been a regular at the Emmys, this is Orji and Adepo’s first-ever nomination. Aduba is nominated in the ‘Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or Movie’ category; Orji in ‘Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy’ and Adepo in ‘Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or Movie’. Do we think that they will clinch these awards? Fingers crossed.

George ‘Obinna’ Floyd

If there will ever be an award for the most dramatic people, it would only be fair that Nigerians clinch this award. I mean, where else in the world do animals periodically steal public funds? In slightly related news, a pastor, Humble Okoro, became the subject of interest for many after he conducted a burial service for the late George Floyd. Okoro said that he has conducted his investigations and traced Floyd’s ancestral root to Aboh Mbaise in Imo state. Interestingly, he christened Floyd, Obinna and said expressly said that he is happy that he is now reunited with his ancestors. Wonders?
